How to Get Approved for Facebook’s Content Monetization Program (and Maximize Your Revenue Share)
We manage dozens of Facebook pages spanning over 100 million followers monetized with the Content Monetization program.
Each one earning an average of $1,000 to $20,000 per month. Here’s EXACTLY what we do to get the pages monetized, what we do to maximize the revenue share earnings, and where the programs are headed over the next few years
Note: Make sure to layer the Content Monetization revenue with display ads revenue from website traffic and you’ll be upgrading that pool in no time.
1. Increase your follower count and Reach
Get your Likes count to at least 50,000. Some pages will get the monetization invite below this amount, but most won’t.
Before we used to say that you need to get it to at least 10k, but Facebook is being stricter now.
They open and close their invitations for a few months at a time, we just went through a re-opening recently and more people are getting invites than ever before – so make use of this window!
The easiest way to get to 50,000+ likes is to run a Likes ad campaign on Facebook, paying as low as $0.01 per new like. If you can, get your page to 100k or beyond.
Also get your page reach up to at least 10-20 million per month.
Some pages will get the invite below this amount especially depending on the niche, but most will start to receive the invites above this amount.
Make sure to hit this amount consistently. Facebook may not reward you with monetization if you get a single pop in engagement in one month, but if they see you consistently getting pop after pop then you’ll be more likely to get the coveted invite.
You can accomplish this by running super viral content, only choosing the best of the best content that has the highest potential to spread to the most people possible.
2. Avoid Low Performing Content
Conversely, avoid low performing content. If Facebook sees you continuously putting out content that bombs, your reach will be dragged down, along with your chances of getting monetized.
Share a wide variety of post types, don’t just stick to image or meme shares. Text format posts with a black background perform best. It’s essential you run it with a black background, this outperforms all other backgrounds – by far.
3. Share Reels and Stories
Share at least three reels each week, Facebook loves reels! If you can, share on each day.
A format that’s doing amazing right now is taking your best performing super viral memes and turning those into a Reel/video format and sharing it as a video and Reel.
Facebook is even releasing features to allow you to do this through the Facebook app itself as opposed to manually.
Getting used to sharing videos and Reels will place you in a much stronger spot for when you get invited to the Content Monetization program, as it pays for reach and views generated from these content types.
Share Stories at least three times a week – daily if you can. Multiple times a day is even better. Facebook now pays you for the reach generated from Stories as part of their Content Monetization program, so you may as well be ahead of the game here.
Write super long, detailed, high quality captions – Facebook loves this too and pays more for it!
4. Post Original Content
Post all original content, don’t simply grab others’ content without making any modifications to it and then reshare it on your page.
What does Facebook classify as ‘original’ content? Any piece of content that has had ‘meaningful updates’ made to it (even if the whole thing is not original, some part of it must be, such as an altered meme) (even if the whole thing is not original, some part of it must be, such as an altered meme) Original photos or videos you’ve taken or created yourself (via AI, Canva or otherwise)
Follow Facebook’s weekly checklist in Business Manager…they make it easy and tell you exactly what they want.
5. Avoid Any Spam or Community Violations
Make sure not to get any spam or community violations, this is essential!
If you get any, work on getting them cleared immediately. This is easier than ever now with the rollout of the Community Notes program in favor of the fact-checking program.
Further, Facebook allows you to have your first ever violation removed by taking a quiz (see: engagement propaganda).
If you still have gotten violations that you can’t remove, DM us for help or look into our Elite Consulting program to get rid of these violations. They are a huge suck and throttler for reach (and reach and revenue generation).
Make sure your ‘Page Health’ shows no restrictions or violations. Again, if there is anything, address it right away.
6. Page Admins
Ensure your page admins are all from a Facebook monetization-approved country.
Do not invite any admins that are not in one of these countries, and definitely don’t try to circumvent this by having people in non-approved countries login to through your approved country account.
Don’t use a VPN – Facebook knows when you’re trying to get around their rules! If you need to have staff in a non-approved country, the best thing to do is to set up a physical computer or laptop in an approved country, have it running all the time and allow your staff to login and manage the computer via a remote desktop app. We recommend Parsec.
Many people were seeing that invitations to Content Monetization slowed down or stopped in Q4 2024 and Q1 2025. Good news – the invitations are roaring back! These windows will always open and close, so make the most out of them, and don’t worry if you don’t get the invitation immediately, keep plugging away and it’ll come.
